Payments for Environmental (or Ecosystem) Services or (PES)
This is an internationally accepted method to attach financial value to environmental values that otherwise would be neglected and / or destroyed because of other economic priorities. (The sales of) PES enables parties to generate financial income from protected ecological values and thus counterbalance financially driven forces of destruction.
