GFI has purchased a plot of land of around 68 hectares (way too small for any forestry project) in Belem, Brazil. Potentially further tranches of land to be purchased at later stages, if the initial sales go well GFI is in discussion with the owner of a very large area of the Brazilian rainforest (Why do you need to talk to an owner of rainforest? To cut it down and create an ethical, carbon offsetting, deforestation addressing teak plantation?.
Three independent Rental Companies are approved by GFI, one of whom can be chosen by the investor to act as the Rental Company for their plot of land. The Rental Company will then manage or employ a management company to maintain the upkeep of the plot. The Rental Company will receive the funds from the income of the plots (i.e. harvest proceeds), leaving the investor with a pre agreed rental fee for the use of the plot. (It's impossible that the whole (86 ha only) plantation won't be managed by one entity.)
Based on this folder one can safely conclude this is a scam.
